Why not combine a visit to your local farmer’s market with a walk in the countryside and a trip back in time? It’s a chance to leave the car at home, stretch your legs and re-trace the footsteps of your forebears as they walked to market in the 19th century.
To help you relive the past, we are offering free maps of the area for a week before the market. Download them by clicking below on the map you want.

Whether you walk up Green Lane from Bray, alongside once lush water meadows, or pass along Market Street, where a bullock once escaped from the livestock market and ran straight through the nearby china shop, or turn towards Park Street passing the site of Maidenhead Guildhall, where the
cornmarket was held on the ground floor, just hand in your map at the tea stall at the market to receive an” I Walked to Market” certificate. This can be used to get a 10% discount from various stall holders including Bakerstreat cakes and pies, Brookleas trout farm, Lintrathen Apiaries, Anila’s curry sauces, Golden Valley organic meats, Selsey fresh caught fish and Bookham Cheese. Maidenhead Heritage centre, which is on the corner of the Farmers’ Market site in Grove Road car park, will also offer 10% discount to certificate holders on the day.
